The Central Footwear Training Institute (CFTI) was established in Agra in 1965 with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of India. CFTI is a constituent institute of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Government of India.
CFTI is an ISO 9001:2008 certified institute and is engaged in providing technical education, training and consultancy services in the field of footwear and leather products manufacturing. The institute has well-equipped laboratories, modern production facilities and a library with a large collection of books, journals and periodicals.
The institute offers a wide range of short-term and long-term courses to meet the changing needs of the industry. The institute also provides consultancy services in the areas of product development, process improvement, quality control, technology transfer, etc.
CFTI has a strong network of alumni working in various reputed organisations in India and abroad. The institute has been recognised as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India.
